To all of the grievers out there, I’m right there with you. The holidays are meant for time spent with family and loved ones, but we’re missing members who have been a vital part of the collection of holiday memories. Our bodies are aching, our spirits crushed and our minds misunderstood. The human self can’t comprehend why they aren’t here and, more importantly, how we can move on and be happy.
As hard as it is to miss them on earth, they are rejoicing with God in the purest form. While we’re on earth celebrating the birth of Christ, they are already with Him in an eternity of glory and JOY. Our celebrations will look different. We have Christmas trees and all of the holiday decor. They have what we can only imagine as the greatest, most perfect spirit with God. We should rejoice in this.
It’s difficult to talk about past memories with loved ones because of the raw emotion they bring. However, we should keep their memories alive while we still can. There will come a day when we will pass and those memories that you have of someone will go with you if not shared. God-willing, our family will last generations and they deserve to know about their family before them. We owe it to them. Family is the greatest gift God has given us.
No matter how hard we try, we will never truly understand why someone is no longer with us on earth. Our minds can’t comprehend. Faith and God’s Word keeps us grounded in knowing that we will be reunited with them again. Re-reading scripture, praying and letting the natural grieving process occur can and will alleviate the confusion. Grief is not easy. It’s going to be incredibly hard.
Sweet friends, I know it’s tough. I’m right there with you. To all the grievers, let us all rejoice in the fact that we have a Savior who has saved us and that our loved ones are held tightly and safe by Him. Never forget to tell your family that you love them. Try to mend any broken pieces before it’s too late. Merry Christmas and God Bless.
