Hey there, sweet friend! I am elated that you have clicked on this post and are serious about setting up your blog! Blogging has been a wonderful creative outlet for me. When I had my son in 2018 and left my full-time job, I needed something to help fill the void. Going from working 40+ hours a week to taking care of a newborn was no walk in the park. But, when we started to settle down and get into a routine, a blog was the perfect outlet for me to be creative, write, share my photos, and feel accomplished.

Bluehost is where I first created my blog as a beginner, and I cannot recommend it enough for when you are first starting out. I realize the world of blogging can seem overwhelming – trust me, I am still learning! Think about a hosting site as a marketplace that your booth (website/blog) will be housed under. Bluehost has fantastic 24-hour phone and chat support. Plus, there is no cheaper hosting site for WordPress.org where you want to establish your blog for the long-run!

Today, I’m walking you through step-by-step how to create your blog!

1. First things, first – head to Bluehost to get started!

The very first step is to click the large “GET STARTED” button! Yay! Yes, this is actually happening! You are making a huge step in creating your blog. This is so exciting!

2. Choose your plan

I recommend starting off with the BASIC plan. Keep in mind, you can change your plan at any time. The Basic plan is all you need to get started with your blog. With the basic plan, you will have one website for your blog. No need to worry too much about which plan is perfect for you. You can always change it, like I mentioned. Let’s just get started and then go from there!

3. Set up your domain (your www.)

Wow! It’s getting more real! Your very own www. (baller status!) Search for the domain that you desire to have as your blog. Or, if you already own a domain, you can import it here to Bluehost hosting.

4. Fill out account info

Now, you will enter your personal info that Bluehost needs in order to create your blog. You are making strides to setting up your blog!

5. Payment info

Enter in your payment information to process the transaction.

6. Pick packages and options

Coming from a money-worrier (is that a word?), I understand that making an investment like this is huge. However, I did mention earlier that there is no other hosting site that works with WordPress with amazing support like Bluehost. Please note, I only recommend services that I trust and have personally used.

You’re almost there! Only a few more steps to finish setting up your blog. Go ahead and login for the first time!!! Soak in this moment, it’s exciting!

9. Use new password

10. Name your website

Plug in your desired name and tagline. You can change this at any time!

11. Website type

Bluehost wants to know a little bit more about how you will be using your website/blog.

12. Pick a theme!

Seriously, you are almost there! This is the fun part of setting up your blog. You get to choose a theme that best fits your personality. Please note, you can change your theme at any time! Choosing a theme right now does not mean that is permanent. I personally love the Astra and Hemingway theme. Both are classic, clean, and great for showcasing your growing blog.

13. WordPress Auto-Install

WordPress is going to do its thing and install. This is where all of the magic will happen!

14. Start building

Click the “START BUILDING” button. Yay!! I’m excited for you if you can’t tell. 🙂

15. Bluehost C-PANEL

When you log into Bluehost, you will see something called the c-panel. Think of this as the backend of your blog. Don’t be overwhelmed, you will not be here too often as you are first starting out. Bluehost support will be able to assist you with everything you need on the backend of your website.

16. WordPress tools – aka where you begin creating and customizing!

You did it! You have just completed setting up your blog! Take a look around and get to know the WordPress site. You might be overwhelmed at first. Take a deep breath and give yourself time to navigate and familiarize yourself with WordPress.
