We all have times when we are in need of encouragement. Some times are more desperate than others. It could be as small as having a tough day and needing a hug or a sincere smile headed your way. It can also be as crippling as believing we aren’t good enough and aren’t succeeding in life. Even so, it can seem that problems arise one after the other and we lose hope. Well, friend. I’ve been there, too. I’m actually currently in a season of life where I find myself needing more comfort from God and loved ones.
The Lord tells us to confide in Him and to come to Him with our worries and anxiety. Although He can’t physically take them away, He does provide comfort through His Word and encourages us to always have hope. James 5:16 reads, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
I have gathered a few Bible verses that help me tremendously during those quiet moments and serve as gentle, powerful reminders. Whether they are written on note cards, on the notes app in your phone, on your bathroom mirror or in your car, let these scriptures keep you steadfast in your faith and take comfort in our Almighty God. Read them below.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
Psalm 32:7-8 “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Praying for you, sweet friend.
